Senator and Sheriff-Elect Ken Stolle Endorses McWaters
Virginia Beach, VA-- November 16, 2009 - Today, Senator and Sheriff-Elect Ken Stolle endorsed Jeff McWaters in the Republican primary election for his soon-to-be vacant senate seat. The following letter was sent to a group of Senator Stolle's supporters.
Dear Supporter,
First I want to extend my sincerest thanks to you for all you did to elect me as the Sheriff of Virginia Beach.
But today I am writing to you on another matter of extreme importance. As you know, I will be vacating my seat in the Virginia Senate very soon to assume my new role as Sheriff. As your public servant in the Senate since 1992, I would not have felt comfortable taking this step without the assurance that there was another highly qualified person ready and willing to take this job. This person must be fully capable to tackle the complex problems facing our state and region. After careful thought and consideration, I am convinced that person is Jeff McWaters.
On Saturday, December 5th, you will have the choice to nominate a Republican candidate to run in the special election for my vacant seat. As this is a strong Republican district, it is likely that the winner of this Republican canvass will be your next state senator.
In this election there are two Republicans vying for the seat, both have served the community of Virginia Beach for many years and both are good people. For me the choice is clear. Jeff McWaters is the best candidate for the job.
Jeff has proven his leadership in business and has a record of creating jobs, both nationally and right here in Virginia Beach. The company Jeff started was based on conservative Republican principles of cutting costs and saving states and taxpayers money, while promoting efficiency in government. This is exactly the type of person we need representing us in Richmond.
I ask you today, please join me, along with a long list of Republican officials, in supporting Jeff McWaters for State Senate, by voting on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5th.
